January 2008 (Duck Key, FL) – The sport of sailfishing will be at its best in the Florida Keys when Hawks Cay hosts The Sailfish Open, March 5 - 8, 2009. The weekend-long tournament, part of the Sailfish Pro Series, will bring together 18 teams of professional anglers as well as amateur enthusiasts for competitive catch-and-release fishing in the waters around the resort’s home on Duck Key. The Sailfish Open at Hawks Cay will unfold over a four-day weekend of sport fishing and events. Registration will take place Thursday, March 5th with a Captains Meeting and Kick-Off Party.  Fishing will begin Friday and continue on Saturday morning with an Awards Banquet held that evening.  An entry fee of $4,350 is required for a team of six anglers with VIP access to all parties and events.  Anglers will compete for a guaranteed first place payout of $50,000 and a total overall payout of $75,000.

Hawks Cay offers a fleet of charters, full-service 85-slip marina and easy access to prime fishing in every direction, assuring plenty of opportunity for aficionados of sport fishing.

The Sailfish Pro Series is a professional association that brings together the best-of-the-best sailfish anglers for a season-long challenge.
